Sunday Holy Week
Prayer:
Almighty, ever-living God,
you willed that our Saviour
become man and undergo the humiliation of the cross
in order that we your children
might be reconciled to you.
Jesus your son humbly and obediently
walked the way of his blessed passion,
to consummate the mystery of our salvation.
We ask you Lord, to make us humble and obedient,
in following your plan for us.
Help us accept our sufferings
and offer it up for your greater glory.
Thank you Lord, for washing our sin-soiled souls
in the saving waters of baptism.
May we present the Conqueror of death,
not with mere branches of palms but
with real rewards of his victory
which is our fellowship and union with you.
And let our souls take the place of the welcoming branches
as we join today in the holy song:
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Blessed is the king of Israel.
We make our prayer
through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
