Maundy Thursday Holy Week
Prayer:
Almighty God,
as we approach this life-giving banquet
to sup with your divine Son Jesus,
we are reminded of the command
to love one another as you love us.
What we experience here and now
is the greatest sacrifice this world has ever known,
your Son Jesus, the unblemished Lamb
that was slain for our transgressions.
As we partake in this breaking
of the Body and Blood of Christ,
may we realise our unworthiness to behold
the Lamb that takes away our sins.
And reminded again and again
that it's only by your word O Lord
that we are made co-heirs in this great feast.
Increase, then, your gifts of divine grace in us,
so that, as in your Son’s death,
you made us hope for what we believe,
you may likewise, in his resurrection,
make us come to you, our final end.
We make our prayer
through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God for ever and ever.
Amen.
